5 INSPIRING Photographers You NEED to Follow Now

[Music] [Applause] hey everyone i'm kpr this is five to follow here's the deal what i'm gonna do in this series is i'm gonna introduce you to five photographers i think you should be following so this is the first episode of five to follow and actually i'm already gonna break the rules here i'm gonna give you six photographers that i think you should be following today i'm gonna talk to you a bit about them we're gonna look at their website we're gonna look at their work talk about why i love their work and why i think you should be following i'll also link to their websites and their their books fill up your bookshelf and get inspired by their amazing work our first photographer today chris nichols chris is a toronto native he's one of the top fashion and beauty photographers in north america he's been working in toronto and new york city for more than 20 years his work is primarily editorial and advertising he shoots on location and in studio beautifully everything that he does is phenomenal this guy has shot more magazine covers than i have purchased magazines in my entire life and i have bought a lot of magazines his work is clean it's versatile it's simple it's stunning even if you don't shoot fashion or beauty or editorial chris is a photographer you need to be following because his work is just consistently great and very inspiring so check him out on instagram and give him a follow next up martine bratt the french photographer who's been working in new york city since 1968 she's captured the city and people of harlem brooklyn and the south bronx her work was influential to me before i was a photographer before i knew who she was i grew up on hip-hop i grew up on new york hip-hop she captured a lot of the early new york hip-hop scenes you can see here this is an early photo of seminal hip-hop group run dmc her documentary approach really is very intimate and makes you feel like you're right there with the people i find her work so inspiring and it influences the way that i shoot reportage also if i'm shooting a family this is very similar to the approach i take documenting family life she's a book called do or die that's really great you should check it out give her a follow on instagram check out her website her work is stunning next up vanya gunnarwardi another toronto photographer vanya is a photography and cgi mixed media artist born in indonesia she studied animation in singapore and the uk before moving to toronto to pursue photography more in depth banya's work is vibrant it's minimalist and has a very pop art feel to it she works mostly in food and still life check out her website she's using an adobe portfolio website and that links to her behance so follow her on instagram follow her on behance links are in the description below i just absolutely love this work in my opinion brazilian-born sebastiano salgado is probably the best and most important photographer that has ever lived i think his work is better than ansel adams i think he's more important than ansel adams and that's a big statement salgado is a social documentary photographer who is focused on long-term self-assigned projects most of which he releases in these massive beautiful stunning monographs his work is evocative it's emotional it's humane he's traveled to more than 120 countries around the world photographing the people in the land and documenting major historical events vim vendors directed a movie about sebastiano salgado that i highly highly recommend it's called salt of the earth it is such an inspiring film to watch him as a photographer as a visual anthropologist talk about his work talk about his his life how his work developed and how he how he came to find his purpose in life through his photography he also has a fantastic ted talk which i will link to in the description below as well while i wasn't able to find a website for salgado he does have an instagram account check out his work there it's coffee table so so good number five on today's list are two photographers adam schultz and lawrence jackson and they are the new white house photographers for president biden and vice president kamala harris respectively adam schultz is from atlanta he worked on the biden campaign he worked on hillary clinton's campaign he worked for the clinton foundation for eight or nine years before that he's now the official white house photographer for president joe biden lawrence jackson is from richmond virginia he also served on barack obama's communications team i think also with adam schultz and he's the official white house photographer for vice president kamala harris now adam schultz has a website he was working on the biden for president instagram account but now he's moved over to the white house instagram account lawrence jackson has a website you can check out he's got an instagram account follow him on instagram follow the kamala harrah's instagram as well for more of his work
